to continue to provide these services while keeping our property tax rate low compared to our
surrounding communities.
Economic Development
Downers Grove is situated in a superb transportation hub, multiple highways, the BNSF / METRA rail
line and other business corridors postilion the Village as an excellent location for all types of
businesses to locate. The Village working with the Economic Development Corporation, The Downers
Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Downtown Downers Grove Downtown Management
Corporation welcome new business and provide continued support to our current businesses. Attraction
and retention of businesses in Downers Grove helps the Villages budget and creates a well rounded
commercial, service, industrial and retail marketplace for residents and visitors.
Maintaining the Village Infrastructure
Streets, Sidewalks, Storm Water Management, Water Distribution, Village Buildings, Village Fleet &
Equipment are the physical components of our community. Without these assets our municipal service
delivery would not meet the high expectations of our residents and visitors. With long term
planning and budgeting the Village can continue to fix roads, move storm water our of yards
and basements, and deliver excellent police fire and public works services.
Environmental Stewardship
Creating programs and practices that protect our local and global environment are critical the the
future of Downers Grove. Recycling extravaganzas, rain barrel sales events, recycling programs in
conjunction with solid waste removal, solar / wind powered street lights, LED lighting in the
parking deck all enhance our village and promotes a greener and more responsible environment in the
Village of Downers Grove.
